Hey loyal readers!
I am so excited to share one of my recent experiences with a newer local business that has totally changed my life (and I’m not just saying that… it legit changed my life). So before diving into the blog post, I’m going to paint a little picture of what I had going on for years that I just thought was completely normal.

It was 4 years ago and I’m sitting on the couch with one of the WORST colds I’ve ever had. I’m sneezing, coughing and sweating as we do when were sick. I had this chronic cough, one that just takes your breath away. I would cough so much and so hard to the point my throat felt raw but to be honest that wasn’t my biggest concern that was going on… My biggest actual concern was that every time I coughed, I would pee just a small amount. So, when I say small amount it was just a couple drops but enough to feel damp and mortified by what was going on. I was incredibly embarrassed to talk about this and thought to myself “well I guess this just happens when I’m sick and cough too much” but really it was just the tip of the iceberg.

For the last 4 years, I’ve been suffering with incontinence almost anytime I did something slightly strenuous and I’m talking, coughing, sneezing, jumping, lifting heavy things or even laughing too hard… so just living life really. I had told a couple close friends about my “peeing issue” and most of them said that that was a normal part of aging and that our bodies change over time. Now, I know our bodies change over time (hello being a woman) but I’m only 32 years old, I haven’t had kids or gone through any crazy transformational things with my body, so why all of a sudden did this start happening and why is it just getting worse and worse as time goes on.

Now, we’ve reached a part in my story where I could keep moaning and groaning on and on about my embarrassing situation OR I could give you a solution that literally gave me the freedom to do all of my normal activities (yes this even includes jumping rope) without having wet pants. So a colleague of mine who I actually met at the Academy at the Farm Event (Jillian Harris hosted us all… it was pretty freaking cool but a story for another time) had introduced me to her friend Stephanie who recently opened up a UROSPOT clinic in Lakeshore. At the time of the introduction, Stephanie and I had just made plans to meet one another and quickly chat about our businesses over a cup of coffee. I had no idea what UROSPOT really was until I did some research before our meeting (as you do before meeting someone… or maybe that’s just me) and what I found through a quick Google search amazed me.

UROSPOT - Lakeshore Location

So I’ll give you a very brief summary of what I learned; UROSPOT is Canada’s largest private pelvic health provider that uses Health Canada approved technology to strengthen your pelvic floor for you. This particular location I visited is in Lakeshore and is in one of the most beautiful and sophisticated spaces with the friendliest staff (literally they’re all so sweet). The procedure is quite simple, and the absolute best part is your clothes never come off and no one is poking or prodding you.
By sitting comfortably on the “Kegel Throne”, electromagnetic energy moves through the chair, through your clothes, and focuses on your pelvic floor. Intriguing right? Well let me tell you that this technology works!
I completed my 6 treatments and consultation in about 3-4 weeks and I haven’t had an accident since.

Everyone I talk to about this with always asks, so what does the machine do, and does it hurt? My response is; the “Kegal Throne” works out your pelvic floor for you while you just sit there and watch Netflix… and to be exact, it runs for 28 minutes total and in that 28 minute treatment it does 11,000 Kegels which normally in 28 minutes, I would only be able to do about 28 Kegels total (I’m already tired from thinking about doing that lol).

Now if you don’t know what a Kegel is; it’s an exercise that strengthens your pelvic floor which then in turn helps control bladder leaks (it does more than that but this is the best way I would describe it). So, in 6 treatments, I did a total of 66,000 Kegels over 3 weeks. After completing the treatment, you usually see full results after 6 weeks from completion. I started seeing results after my consultation in which I sat on the throne for 4 minutes (which is WILD and not always the case for every person).

So going back to beginning of my blog post… When I say this treatment changed my life, it my sound like I’m being dramatic but if you’re a woman (or a man, men can have this happen too) and you suffer from what we perceive as embarrassing bladder leaks, you are not alone. You don’t have to live with this issue forever, you are the captain of your own ship, and you can steer that ship towards never peeing your pants again.

I am so happy to share such a positive end result with you all (big thank-you to Stephanie and her team at UROSPOT).
I also did want to preface that I’m totally open to answering any questions you may have about my experience. I do want to note how ever that I’m not a pelvic floor expert (or in the medical field at all), I design kitchens for a living so please save the technical questions for the experts at UROSPOT.

If you’re saying to yourself, I need this or I am interested in chatting more about what your results could look like, book a complimentary consultation with UROSPOT today - make sure you tell them I referred you or you found out about the “Kegel Throne” from this blog post.

Anyways, I hope this read either gave you a quick chuckle, made you feel like you’re not alone in your struggles OR gave you hope that you can gain this freedom like I have from peeing your pants too!

Markie.
